Who We Are
The heritage of NorthWest Christian Church
is deeply rooted in the pioneering of this great country. As men
and women carved out new lives on the western frontier, they sought
free expression of their Christian faith. Looking to the Bible for
fundamental truth, a vision for the unity of all believers was born.
Today we are part of what has become a worldwide, nondenominational
brotherhood of believers who desire simply to be Christians -- nothing
more, nothing less. The Bible is our authority and guide. We have
no government beyond the local congregation though we readily join
other local churches in cooperative ministry and fellowship. Our
governing board is made up of elders who "shepherd" and "oversee"
the church. Other leaders are appointed as needed, and as you can
see from this website, we have many people functioning in different
areas of leadership. NorthWest Christian Church was born in 1989
with a grand vision of bringing the message of hope and life to
this rapidly growing northwest part of Wichita, and as far as the
lord would extend our influence. We would count it a privilege to
share this message with you and have you join us in this vision.
Our Mission
Knowing God and Making Him Known to All People,
Discipling Them in Christ. "Knowing God" expresses our belief that
a personal relationship with God is the first priority of every
Christian. "Making Him Known" expresses our commission to evangelism.
We are not just making church members, but helping people to enter
into a personal relationship with God. "All People" expresses the
eligibility of all people for the Gospel of Christ. "Discipling
Them in Christ" expresses our commission to not only introduce people
to God, but a growing relationship that bears spiritual fruit.
Our Vision
NWCC will be a Reproducing, Regional Church
Committed to Small Groups and Whole Community Ministries with a
Global Perspective. "Reproducing" expresses our commitment to both
evangelism and church planting. "Regional" expresses our commitment
to minister to and influence everyone in our region, reaching beyond
our immediate neighborhood as far as the Lord allows. "Small Groups"
expresses our commitment to the development of small groups in our
neighborhoods that carry on most of the ministry of the church.
"Whole Community Ministries" expresses our commitment to provide
whatever ministries are necessary to meet the needs of the people
in our community. "Global Perspective" expresses our commitment
to the fulfillment of our mission wherever the Lord calls.
